Aiding the Persecuted

In Pakistan Christians face both state-sanctioned and societal persecution, and aid from mission groups based outside of Pakistan is usually their only means of support in the face of this persecution.

Our mission network works to bring assistance to individual families who have been persecuted for their faith, and at times we are called to help entire communities that have been affected by persecution.

In December 2017, ISIS attacked the Bethel Memorial Methodist Church in the city of Quetta. ISIS suicide bombers went into the church and blew themselves up. The attack killed nine people and wounded over 50 more. Sadly, due to its location near the Afghanistan border, the city has often fallen victim to these types of terrorist attacks.

Our mission quickly raised funds and made the perilous journey to this dangerous region to bring much needed food and medical supplies to the families of the bombing victims.

Persecution struck the Christian community of Pakistan again in August of 2023. On the 16th of August, two Christians in the city of Jaranwala were falsely accused of desecrating a Qur’an.  This sparked a horrific pogrom that led to the destruction of 26 churches and the looting of hundreds of Christian homes.  Shortly after the pogrom our team visited Jaranwala and helped bring food, clothing, blankets, and new beds to help the affected Christian families, many of whom lost everything in the pogrom.

In Pakistan, the tragedy of persecution can strike unexpectedly at any time, but we at Bridge of Grace Missions are always prepared to take immediate action to assist our persecuted brethren, heeding the call of Christ to remember our brethren in bonds, as if bound with them (Hebrews 13:3).
